Transition Watch

The latest survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press finds a highly positive public reaction to President-elect Obama’s appointments and his overall handling of the transition. More than seven-in-ten (72%) approve of the job Obama has done in explaining his policies to the American people while about as many (71%) approve of his cabinet selections. About two-thirds (68%) believe his cabinet picks have been about right, rather than too liberal or too conservative.

Growing numbers of people in several major European countries say they have an unfavorable opinion of Jews, and opinions of Muslims also are more negative than they were several years ago. These findings are from a new Pew Global Attitudes report, based on data gathered from 24 countries from regions throughout the world, that examine worldwide religiosity and take a close look at Muslim publics' attitudes toward terrorism, Osama bin Laden, Hamas, Hezbollah and more.
